JCF field trip to CERN

We (GDCh's local young division, JungesChemieForum JCF Saar) have organized a field trip to the CERN (Conseil Européen pour la Recherche Nucléaire), the European Organization for Nuclear Research, in Geneva, Switzerland.

With around 40 participants, the trip started in the middle of the night, allowing us to spend the entire Saturday taking part in guided tours and visiting the museum. Several experiments illustrated the principles and construction of particle accelerators, while the guides provided extensive information on the history of the research institution and its current research activities. Real CERN physicists were available to answer questions. It was a successful and inspiring excursion!
